“The Air of Great Service”: How Aromatherapy Supports Your Marketing Energy (and Why It’s Not Witchcraft)

“The Air of Great Service”: How Aromatherapy Supports Your Marketing Energy (and Why It’s Not Witchcraft)

Let’s get one thing straight: marketing isn’t just what you post. It’s what people feel when they walk into your space—virtual or physical. It’s your tone, your environment, your intention.

And before you roll your eyes and say, “This sounds woo,” let me tell you a story.

🛎️ The Bed and Breakfast That Taught Me Everything

Years ago, I was the general manager of a bed and breakfast in a small but classy, well-known town. Literally, I was a server and makeup artist before this job as General Manager... Not just the GM, though—I was also the cleaning manager, the in-house chef, and the person folding toilet paper corners at 3 pm. It was a full-on hospitality hustle.

But what made the experience seamless wasn’t just my spreadsheets or muffins. It was my attention to "experience" for the guest.

It wasn't just aromatherapy—and no, not in the over-diffused, gas-station-lavender way. It was intentional. It was intentional energy with the use of oils, prayers and intention in my actions.

  • When guests arrived, I diffused Young Living’s Joy oil. At first, it was for my own self because the house was old and I wanted it to feel less quiet and haunted. Then comments started. It lifted the energy of the room before anyone said a word. Guests would literally sigh as they walked in.

  • In the bathrooms? Thieves hand soap. It smelled clean, herbal, and safe—like we actually cared about the experience, not just cleaning.

  • And at breakfast? A little Abundance on my wrists. I didn’t tell anyone. I didn’t need to. I didn't intend it for that reason- I meant " Praying my guest felt like they had an abundance of joy this weekend." But that day? Guests complimented the food, gave extra tips, and said things like, “There’s something really special about this place…” I even had a pharmacist guest mention that her kids felt so much love and peace here, she wanted for her playroom what I had in the dining room. That day it was a blend of Lavender & Lemon because I wanted "happy but I'm sneezy" ... so great intentions and I then made a commission from her buying a kit later that year. I was no longer the general manager, the summer had ended but the scent had stayed.

Was it mind control?

No. It was alignment.

🧠 Aromatherapy in Marketing: Not a Trick, Just a Tool

Let’s be honest: if I had burned the toast, forgot the check-in code, or been snippy with a guest… all the essential oil in the world wouldn’t have fixed the disconnect.

But when you pair a well-set energetic environment with truly excellent service, you get something magical:

→ People feel safe.

→ They trust you faster.

→ They give you grace when tech glitches happen.

→ They buy more, tip better, and come back.

That’s not manipulation. That’s called doing your job—with a little more ease and intentional support. It can quickly get to manipulation, and greed can quickly overshadow good intent of a good service. Ick can be felt, though, so don't let yourself get greedy or full of self-interest in your good deeds. When you do a good job because you like doing a good job, that is rewarded. When the clients walk in and smell fresh oranges and joy and not pollen from outside or the last guests bad cologne lingering.... they're more apt to see what you're doing for them.

💡 Essential Oils for Business Owners Wearing Too Many Hats

If you're a solo entrepreneur, service provider, or spa owner doing marketing, social media, client service, and still trying to eat lunch before 5pm, you need tools that support you.

You don’t need to become an essential oil influencer. You just need energetic allies to help you stay calm, grounded, and magnetic.

Here are a few Young Living oils I recommend to my marketing clients and creative team members (and yes, I use these myself) and in team trainings around the globe:

🌼 Joy – Best for Client-Facing Moments

  • Use it in a diffuser at the front desk or waiting room

  • Dab it on your wrists before Zoom calls or client intake

  • Great for estheticians, therapists, front-desk pros

Vibe: Uplifting, open-hearted, helps people feel welcome before you say a word.

🛡️ Thieves – For Clean Energy (Literally + Symbolically)

  • Use in

  • Supports immune system + smells like you actually sanitized

  • Also great for energy-clearing when you’ve had a draining client

Vibe: Clean, protective, energetically firm but not harsh

💰 Abundance – For Sales Days + Client Interactions

  • Swipe on your wrists before discovery calls or checkout

  • Diffuse during sales meetings, workshops, or pop-ups

  • Best when paired with a solid CTA and real value (you’re not casting a spell, you’re reinforcing your intention)

Vibe: Confident, grounded, expansive—it supports your message, not manipulates it.

🧘‍♀️ Stress Away – For Solo Boss Brain Fog

  • Roll it on before working on your website, marketing, or calendar

  • Keeps your energy clean when switching between roles

  • Excellent when you're doing visibility work (aka filming yourself while spiraling internally)

Vibe: Smooths your edges so you show up like yourself—even when your brain is fried.

🗣️ It’s Not Witchcraft. It’s Not a Gimmick.

Look—anyone can fake “high vibes.” But when you create an atmosphere that supports you and your client, everything you do flows better.

Real marketing works better when real customers really love what you do and comment on your real posts. What sucks is when your marketing team makes you look good and you don't deliver.

Essential oils don’t make people book your facials, join your email list, or sign a contract.

You do that.

But oils like Joy, Abundance, and Thieves?

They help your nervous system show up ready. They help your space match your intention. They help your clients settle in and trust you faster—because they feel it.

✅ TL;DR: Business Energy Starts With You

Before you fix your logo, overhaul your website, or obsess over “what to post,” ask yourself:

  • What energy do I bring into my space?

  • Do I feel ready to serve?

  • Have I trained myself to deliver great service—or am I just hoping I get through the day?

And then?

Set the mood. Diffuse something that matches your best self.

Give great service.

Let your presence speak before you do.
